The Maryland Theatre, located in downtown Hagerstown, Maryland, is a historic auditorium that has become the anchor to the Hagerstown Arts & Entertainment District. Designed by renowned architects Harry E. Yessler and Thomas W. Lamb, the theatre opened in 1915 and originally served as a vaudeville and then a movie palace. Over the years, it has evolved to host upwards of 350 performances and events annually including concerts, dance recitals, films, comedians, orchestral performances, plays, scholarship pageants, as well as private and corporate events such as weddings, funerals, trainings, fundraisers, parties and conferences. With a seating capacity of 1,293, the Theatre underwent significant renovations and expansions, notably after a fire in 1974 and a major expansion completed in 2019. Today, it stands as a modern performing arts center, featuring updated facilities while preserving its historic charm. The Maryland Theatre is home to the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Hagerstown Community Concert Association, Western Maryland City Ballet and the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts and serves as a venue for various community and educational events. As a nonprofit organization, The Maryland Theatre continues to play a vital role in enriching the cultural landscape Western Maryland and the surrounding tri-state region.

This unique venue, with amazing performances ‘in-the-round,’ provides each guest with a dynamic interactive experience and a great view, with no seat more than 30 feet from the stage. Additionally, Toby’s is one of the few regional dinner theatres featuring a live orchestra.
At Toby’s, we offer a salad bar, carving station, a plentiful buffet uniquely selected by our chef for each show and desserts. With our full service bar you can enjoy a cocktail, beer, wine or Toby’s signature show drink which is served in a take home souvenir glass.
